Trip Report

Six intrepid Obsidians braved a December morning chill to travel to Sutherlin, where we began our trek at the West Trailhead of the Cooper Creek Reservoir. Heavy fog and mist enveloped us and the trail, limiting the visibility at the start of our hike. Despite the fog and mud, the well-marked trail was easy to find and follow and provided some gentle ups and downs. A few downed trees and mud were minor obstacles. Soon the sun peeked through and we were treated to some warmth and better views and a few bird sightings. We stopped for a quick lunch near the East Trailhead and continued on at a more rapid pace, finishing our trek back where we started, happy for the adventure and ready for a hot drink at a local coffee shop.
