We will be carrying our hiking shoes, water and snacks up and over the climb so try to keep your climbing pack light. You will need a climbing harness, helmet, personal anchor system, rock shoes, belay-rappel device, 3 locking carabiners. You will also need 2 liters of water for the climb, lunch and snacks. We will be camping the night before at Castle Crags State Park so you will need camping gear and breakfast for the day of the climb.

  • participant prerequisites: Participants will need to be skilled at lead belaying, cleaning trad gear from a crack, rappeling as well as being comfortable on climbing 5.6 rock. In addition, the approach is steep and so physical fitness is also necessary.

Trip Report

We had a most amazing climb up Mt Hubris in Castle Crags State Park in northern California. The team was strong and in high spirits. Three of the participants had never climbed it before so it made it extra fun to experience their excitement on such a beautiful climb. We arose early and were on the trail by 5:30 AM and back by 4:30 PM. Great day!
