Trip Report

Despite forecasts of rain approaching 100% probability, we had very pleasant overcast weather, with no rain and the sun even peeking out occasionally during the second half of the hike. Ten hikers explored the Mosby Creek and Currin covered bridges and the mostly flat pastureland nearby. After going under Row River Road, the trail turned eastward toward Dorena Lake, passing through forests of mostly Douglas Fir and Red and Incense Cedar. We reached the lake and noticed the very low water level, then turned around at about the 4.1 mile mark (although GPS and pedometer measurements of several hikers seemed to show a lot of variation in measured distance). Afterwards we met at Creswell Bakery for dishes including meat pies, French toast, fancy sandwiches, carrot cake, blackberry pie, and coffee. Considering how badly we need the rain, we were happy to see the rain begin falling just as we finished lunch! Perfect timing!
