Description:

This is a hike up Cowhorn Mt., on the Willamette Pass just south of Crescent Lake. The 7600-foot summit will give us great views of the Willamette Pass area. The last time I was there the views were obscured by smoke from a fire, so I'm hoping for better views this time. The hike will start at Windigo Pass on the PCT. The hike to the summit is a bit of a scramble, so I've rated this hike as difficult. Notice that I recommend people bring mosquito repellent. Some of us will stop at The Three-Legged Crane for dinner after the hike.

Trip Report

This was a hike to the summit of Cowhorn Mountain from Windigo Pass on the PCT. It was a good day for a hike with clear skies giving us great views. We met four PCT hikers on the trail who had been hiking for three months, doing up to 35 miles a day. It made our nine-mile hike that day seem rather short, but we still had fun. Some of us stopped in Oakridge at the Three Legged Crane for dinner after the hike.
