Description:

The daffodils are at their peak and there are bazillions of them! We will meet at the Junction City Safeway on highway 99. It's at the north end of the town; park facing highway 99. This is a moderate paced loop ride with 1 hill. We will be on roads with not much traffic and will ride mostly single file. Helmets on your head are mandatory.

Trip Report

It was a perfect day to cycle in the Junction City area and admire the bazillions of daffodils. Two bald eagles posed for us in a tree, red winged blackbirds called to us, a harrier glided near the ground looking for lunch, and a couple of male turkeys with their bright red wattles looked for sex. We had a long break at the Long Tom Grange, basking in the sun and sharing stories. Apparently years ago, grange members encouraged their neighbors along Ferguson Road to plant daffodils and the idea spread to surrounding roads. It was a fantastic spring ride with convivial riders.
