Trip Report

Heavy snowfall at Rebel Rock Trailhead prompted our small, yet determined trail crew to regroup at Deception Butte Trail. A third-mile long reroute has been needed for years in the old clearcut north of the bridge, since steep grades and extreme erosion had played havoc with the original tread. Under difficult conditions - rain, thick vine maple, rocks, heavy duff, etc. - half of the route was wrestled into first-rate trail. Much more is yet to be done and help is urgently needed, so watch your bulletin and then sign up on an up-coming trip. Lonely trail builders were John Cecil, Mike Wright, and Pete Cecil - Bull buck.
