Trip Report

Camped at Indigo Springs campground Friday evening. Nice camp as always. We drove up to the Pioneer Gulch Trailhead Saturday morning. Started up the trail at 0645 after Jan demonstrated one of her finer skills she acquired back east. We hit snow within the first mile. Bob and Nancy decided to turn back here and the remainder of the group headed up the ridge. On top at 1200 after encountering soft snow and having to "post hole" up the ridge in places. Nice lunch on top with warm weather and no wind. Smoke was present from slash burning and hampered visibility to the west. The snow was a little soft for glissading, but after the first person down made a trough it was great. Carol was the glissading champion of the climb. Back to the cars by 1600. A great climb on a smoky, but nice, late spring day with a great group of people who were Carol Cunningham, Ray Davis, Jan Gallenstein, Jane Hackett, Deanna Millard, Lee Lashway, Lisa James, Jim and Richard Mooney, non-summiters Nancy and Robert Rossner, with leader Randy Zustiak.
