Trip Report

This climb would have been by way of Blue Lake and the Northwest Ridge. Road No. 210 was plowed to 3300 ft. This left about 4 miles of slogging through deep new snow to reach Blue Lake. Shortly before reaching Blue Lake, a lenticular cloud was seen over the summit. The storm was moving in fast, for by the time we reached the lake it had started snowing. Due to the storm and the late hour we knew a summit attempt the following day would be out of the question, so we pitched camp on Blue Lake and settled down comfortably for the night. During the night, over a foot of new snow was dumped on us. Ken Ball accompanied leader Jack Nitzel on this trip.
