Trip Report

Although ten people signed up for this one day climb of Diamond Peak, four could not read the large notation to note the special departure time, or lacked the courtesy to notify the leader they had changed their minds. They missed a good climb in perfect weather with Don Orton, Jerry Crosby, Ray Mikesell, Matt Cooper, Kerri Bishop and Lee Hatch, leader.

On our way to the trailhead at Pioneer Gulch on the west side of Diamond, we had threatening weather and even some light rain. However, at the trailhead it was clear blue sky and windless and remained so all day.

Our climb was one mile by trail and the rest of the way to the summit through the woods and up the SW ridge. We enjoyed a long lunch in the sun and one other climber before returning to the cars and home at 6 p.m.
