Trip Report

Dark and early our group slowly assembled at the SEHS parking lot, under the auspicious twinkling of the morning wanderer. Two hours later we took off at a young, hormonally-charged pace from Emigrant Pass, near Summit Lake. Just after the "big switchbacks" we started scrambling up until we caught the sheep trails to the ridge and followed this to the summit about 12:30. The weather was sent from leader heaven, solid for several days before and after, pleasant temperature, no clouds, a light breeze, ahh! We enjoyed an hour's stay on top, then a group yoga session, and back down a very easy, quick route. The four in the lead were like horses goin' back to the barn and quickly lost the trailers as we cross-countried back towards the PCNST. Thanks to the attention paid by the two in the rear, Search & Rescue was not needed on this particular day. It was the usual comatose death march out on a dusty, yet starkly beautiful trail by Jane & Tom Happy, Jamie Kiley, Mike Landes, Tim Verkler, Jim & Susan Man and leader Rick Ahrens.
