Trip Report

The group met at SEHS parking lot at 6:00 a.m. and hit the road. We regrouped at Summit Lake trailhead and started out around 8:45 under clear sunny skies. The numerous ponds at the beginning of the trail were still loaded with hungry mosquitoes. We made good time until we hit the east side of the Southeast Ridge with its abundant talus and scree. The group slowly made its way up the east side and the remaining Southeast Ridge to reach the summit at about 2:15 p.m. Here we enjoyed spectacular clear views north and south and were entertained by a song from Elizabeth and a poem by Karen. After a late lunch we headed down around 3:15 and were able to glissade on two snow fields. We finally reached the trailhead around 7:00. All eight of the group (Bill & Leanne Cox, Bob Parker, Val Jones, Margy Riggs, Elizabeth Medgyesy, Karen Rayle and leader Dick Snyder) summited.
