Trip Report

The day began clear and windless at the trailhead of the Pacific Crest Trail at Summit Lake as we started for Diamond Peak. After about two miles on the trail, we headed cross country for the summit, which we reached in three hours at 12:45. After an hour in complete windless and cloudless weather, we started our cross country descent to the Crest Trail and back to the cars at 5.45. A perfect Fall day, a good group and an easy seven-hour climb. With leader Lee Hatch were Dan Bates, Dan McLaughlin, Ron Whisler, Steve Peterson, Brian Gregor and Liz and Ted Igl.
