Description:

We will start this hike at the Hardesty Mountain trailhead. Most of this trail winds through both old and second- growth Douglas fir with the last .7 miles climbing to the rocky summit. With clear weather in the forecast I am looking forward to having a view of the Lost Creek Valley at the top where we will have lunch. Hopefully the early start and hiking in the forest will keep us cooler in the predicted hot weather.

Trip Report

Our group of four left LCC at 7:00 and were on the trail by 7:30. Temperatures were in the mid 50s and had reached 90 when we finished at 1:30. We all agreed that hiking in the trees made it much more pleasant. We had good views at the top of Eagles Rest. On our way back we stopped for a well deserved break at Goodman Creek right next to the log bridge. Some dipped their feet in the creek while others dampened their bandanas for a refreshing wipe down. There were still some wildflowers along the trail that we spent time identifying. It was a great day for hiking.
