Description:

We will meet at the 17th and Moss Street intersection. From our meeting place we stroll through the east part of campus looking at exterior art not included in last month's campus art walk. We'll see several of the Percent for Art pieces on the east side of campus and visit the city's Frohnmayer Bridge where volunteers stenciled 17 different plants and animals native to the area. Bring your masks. We will social distance as we enjoy our walk. Most campus buildings are locked and will be unavailable for restroom breaks.

Trip Report

The hot weather paused long enough for seven Obsidians and one non-member to enjoy the exterior art of a deserted UO East Campus area. Evelyn shared information on the artist Ken Bartow whose sculpture graces the area near Kalapuya Illihi residence hall. In addition to several newer ‘percent-for-art’ pieces we walked to the Frohnmayer Bridge and enjoyed the stencil mural work completed by Nearby Nature which features 17 different plants and animals.
