Description:

Camping: Leader has reserved 2 individual sites (#2 Dbl Site and #4 Sgl Site) at Trumbull Lake Campground near Bridgeport. We will be camping in the Virginia Lakes area at 10,000' elevation, 6 miles west of Hwy 395 near Mono Lake, north of Lee Vining. Trumbull Lake CG is a Forest Service CG set in a thick lodgepole pine forest on the banks of scenic Trumbull Lake. CG has vault toilets, water spigots, picnic tables and food storage lockers. Showers are available to the public at nearby Virginia Lakes Resort. Trumbull Lake CG is approximately a 10 hr drive from Eugene. Note: these dates overlap Labor Day Weekend.

Hiking: The Virginia Lakes area offers numerous hiking opportunities. We will be doing day hikes and several trailheads depart less than a mile from camp. This is not a backpacking trip. Tioga Pass entrance is just 18 miles south of camp off Hwy 395. Yosemite Park's main gate is 15 miles west on SR I20 so maybe one day we could enter the park from the east side and do a hike.

Details: #2 Dbl Site is reserved for 4 Nts (Sept 2-5) and #4 Sgl Site is reserved for 6 Nts (Sept 2-7). You are asked to commit to either 4 or 6 nts. Expect the total cost to be somewhere between $75 and $125 per person depending on number of participants, whether you camp 4 or 6 nts no matter your arrival and departure dates, and shared extra vehicle fees. We will work out these details once a group has been established. Feel free to email leader with any questions prior to signing up. To secure a spot on this trip, please mail a non-refundable $50 deposit to Valerie Metcalfe at 62 E 23rd Ave., Eugene, OR 97405 within 5 days of signing up.
