Trip Report

Started our day in sunny 50 degree weather. Drove 48 minutes to Elkton City Park where we walked to the Umpqua rivers edge and enjoyed the beauty. A lively and fun group headed west along city sidewalks to the beginning and short stroll under a shady canopy of fir, cedar, and a variety of native Oregon plants along the Carol Beckley Native Plant Park Trail to the Butterfly Pavilion. Many adult Monarch Butterflies and Chrysalis were available for viewing. Then a short walk to the recreation of Fort Umpqua and self toured the fort. Returned to Elkton on the same trails and enjoyed a nice group lunch at Arlene’s restaurant.
