LRichard Hughes is the Assistant Leader. ooking for something to do on this special day? An excuse to wear an elf hat or antlers? Let's admire and learn about some of the Eugene downtown murals. We'll meet on the 7th St Hult Center steps; hopefully, the Parcade garage will be open. There is a hand-out; bring reading glasses. We will start by walking up/down Skinner Butte, including exploring part of the brand new "round the mountain" trail. For inspiration and mural locations, see: https://www.20x21eug.com/

  • Supplies and Equipment Required: Masks must be worn at all times because we will be congregating to discuss the murals. Bonus points for wearing holiday apparel. Wear good walking shoes; we will be on a trail for about .5 mile. If raining, bring an umbrella.

Trip Report

The Christmas Day walk began with a hike up Skinner Butte on a section of the new "round the mountain" trail. It was cold and rainy and the "cliff notes" to the murals got soggy, but the participants enjoyed learning about the 20x21 Mural Project in downtown Eugene (https://www.20x21eug.com). There are 22 official murals created by commissioned international and local artists. And we discovered some informal ones as well. Good way to share some camaraderie on a special day.
