Trip Report

Short hike with plenty of excitement and surprises.
From the northernmost street of Eugene city limit we meandered bushy-overgrown, slippery, and somewhat muddy trails all north, almost to the Wilson Bend. In the blackberry jungle between ponds and rushing Willamette River we discovered old rusty truck and mysterious wooden structure.
Along the river we saw big frogs, chirping small birds, and one Bald Eagle.
On the way back we enjoyed River Otters, huge jumping fish, close-by beaver in the pond along the trail, and gang of wild turkeys roosting high in the branches of big leaf maple trees.
Everyone enjoyed our crepuscular-time hike.
