Trip Report

Six nonmembers and 24 members (total 30) went on the Fall Color Trip October 17. Excellent bus; driver! Weather superb! Total miles only 132 but well received and back early after a leisurely trip, with some hairy moments on a narrow road next to deep drop-off. Up the McKenzie River, to Quartz Creek, just short of Blue River. Up this drainage to Indian Ridge Look-out at 5400 feet for lunch. Traces of snow in shady areas. Beautiful spots of flaming color up side hills in bright sunshine. Trip designed by Dave Burwell (The lively forester), led by Marriner Orum through many intersections. Arrangements by Bill Eaton. A preliminary trip by Al Prigge with Dave.
