Trip Report

The annual Fall Color Trip was scheduled for the first or second Saturday of October. Dave Burwell called the Monday before the date selected to say that we had to go in a hurry because things were way ahead of schedule and colors were beautiful.

Hasty telephone calls were made by Lillian Johnson and 24 people were lined up to go; 19 members and 5 nonmembers.

Experienced back roads driver Don Moorehead drove us up the McKenzie Highway to Horse Creek; up this road to high elevations on back roads only he knows. Took us by way of north slopes but said wait until you see what I have for you. Went down a gravel road aways to a south slope, and, Lo . . . it had all gone by! Disappointing but the day was great, interesting stories on timbering again, and species. Stopped off at "Mom's Pies" about 3:30 p.m., consumed the marjority of stock, and back home.
