Trip Report

Many hard-working volunteers fed 83 hungry Obsidians and friends "all they could eat" at the traditional Father's Day Pancake Breakfast at the Lodge on Sunday, June 20. Fifty more people could have been served with ease by the great crew on hand.

Many hours were spent shopping, setting-up, decorating, planning and working on Sunday. Shoppers were Donna Eimstad and Lenore McManigal; decorators were Jenny & Megan Wright; and the setting-up on Saturday was done by Christy White, Shirley Froyd, Margee, Megan & Jenny Wright, and Donna Eimstad.

About 7:00 am Sunday the fun began with Dorothy Turner picking up the pancake batter, John & Lenore picking up the ice, and Donna trying to get the coffee pots going (never plug more than one pot into an outlet as a circuit breaker will blow: I know, because I blew two before figuring it all out!!). The remainder of the good workers were: Kitchen - Lenore McManigal, Mary Baffin, Birgitte Williams, Dorothy Turner, Margee Wright, Norma Jones, Phyllis Early, Myrna Peterson, Hal Busby, Lin Pierce, and Helene Johnson. Servers - Sharon Ritchie, Jane Hackett, John Jacobsen, Megan & Jenny Wright, Virginia Prouty, Loretta Mason, and Helen Lynch. Others helping were Bill Eimstad, John McManigal, Jan Jacobsen, Rose Marie Moffitt, and Buzz Blumm. Paula Vehrs did an outstanding job as cashier.

I think all workers (and eaters!) thoroughly enjoyed this special social occasion at our Lodge.

A special word of thanks to The Original Pancake House (located at 650 East Broadway, Eugene) for again donating the pancake batter. This is the 29th year they have furnished this item for the Father's Day Breakfast at the Lodge. We truly appreciate their continued generosity.

Thanks to everyone who came! - Donna Eimstad
