Description:

It finally looks like we might get a break in the weather this coming Monday for a great day of cross country skiing. Of course if that turns out not to be the case I'll reschedule.We'll park at the Crescent Lake snow park and make our way to Fawn Lake via GPS if necessary and return by the same route. A possible side trip to Stag Lake if the weather is nice enough. It could be a chilly day so bring warm clothes.

Trip Report

Our group of five were greeted at the Crescent snow park by a chilly 22 degree overcast day and a rather hard snow pack with a light dusting of new snow. We proceeded up the Fawn Lake trail but struggled with the icy conditions. The hero of the day was Harold who had brought extra ski skins to share which made the slick conditions to the lake passable. By the time we reached Fawn Lake both the snow conditions and weather had improved so we enjoyed our lunch on the frozen lake. After lunch we decided to extend our trip by skiing out on the Fawn Lake loop past Pretty Lake. This presented the challenge of climbing up the ridge above Fawn Lake then descending down the other side to make our loop. We ended this challenging day of skiing with sunny skies.
