Description:

Depending on conditions and if they have plowed out space for cars at the beginning of the Faye Lake trail we will do that trail. Faye Lake is a road trip with little elevation gain that ends at the lake. We will have lunch there and return to the cars. If there is no place to park we will park at Maxwell Butte sno park and do the mountain view loop. Under 5 miles with more elevation gain. I will make every attempt to figure this out before the trip. If sky’s are clear we may have views of 3 Finger Jack and Jefferson.

Trip Report

Fay Lake is now North Blowout Shelter. Due to an accident on highway 22 the road was closed at the junction. So off to Ray-Benson we went. It was a stunning day. 12 inches of new fluffy snow. Broken clouds with sun and blue sky. The clouds never lifted off Washington or Three-fingered Jack but the views were great. We had a leisurely lunch at the shelter. A fire was attempted by 2 women who got there before use. It was smoky to say the least. The wind came up after lunch and we S/S into a stiff cold breeze. By the time we were back on 126 the pavement was bare and the drive home was easy.
