Food For Lane County hike

Description:

We will divide into two groups, six each. Meet at Gate F /bridge on the south side of the Lane County Fairgrounds to walk on the Fern Ridge bike path to the Food for Lane County warehouse on Bailey Hill Road. (There are two gates (E & F) south of the events center). In years past we have carried cans but this year, I suggest a lightweight check or cash to promote our theme, “Carrying each other by feeding others.” Another option is to donate online, possibly a tribute card for the holiday season. https://foodforlanecounty.org/donate/donate-funds/tribute-card/ If questions, Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net

Trip Report

The fairground gates were closed but we all managed to find our meeting place at 17th and Friendly near Gate F on the south side of Amazon Creek. We took the Fern Ridge Bike Path along Amazon Creek to Bailey Hill where we turned north to the FFLC facility. After I delivered our envelope with our weightless checks, Jorry shared some of the volunteer work preparing sandwiches for several distribution sites. Our two hour walk had a sense of quiet joy from doing something meaningful. We appreciated the Eugene City employee who was gathering up trash along the path and under the bridges. We could tell the difference on the way back.
