Description:

A section of the Ridgeline Trail system that isn’t as heavily used as the parts nearer Spencer Butte. It also offers alternate paths so it is not a straight out and back. Our pace will be moderate.
If you've done this one before, come and see the NEW STEPS and IMPROVED TRAIL. Much less prone to wet weather problems.
We’ll meet at the Ridgeline Trail parking lot on Fox Hollow. It’s across the road from the Raptor Center.

Trip Report

We had a pleasant walk to see the trail improvements on the Mt. Baldy section of the Ridgeline Trail. This area has had problems in the rainy season but is now in much better shape. Right away you noticed the amount of compacted gravel that has been added to the trail surface. Heading up the Baldy hiker only section we took the short viewpoint trail and found seating in the form of two new stone blocks. Then on up to use the new, well spaced steps. These wood framed steps have replaced a section of dirt trail that has been a bit of a slip-n-slide. Another welcome addition is a short retaining wall right in front of the bench at the summit. It will keep the area in front of the bench from eroding. Kudos to the city trail maintenance crews.
