FROM THE WINTER WEATHER WATCH:.
"Snow at times today into tonight. Total new snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches are expected for today through this evening. Heavy snow will develop late tonight and continue through early Sunday evening. During that time, another 12 to 24 inches of snow are expected.

"* WHERE...In Washington, South Washington Cascades. In Oregon, Northern Oregon Cascades and Cascades in Lane County.

"* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult at times, especially on Sunday. Strong gusty (winds) on Sunday will create near blizzard conditions over the passes, with significant blowing and drifting snow, and reduced visibilities."

From other sites, expect 21-27 inches above 4000 feet, winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 and 5000' winds up to 50 mph, with possible blizzard conditions. Oakridge is expecting 1-2 inches of rain. The drive WOULD be dangerous. The snowshoeing would likely be in whiteout conditions periodically.
