Description:

This is a good trip to get reacquainted with your x-c skis. This is not a teaching trip. If you have not x-c skied before, this a good place to go. Your on a wide road and there is a shelter at the end. If you decide to go on this trip and you have little experience you must know how to clip into and out of your skis. So, practice at home. Ski's can be rented at Berg's in Eugene on 13th St. If you have limited experience please call me before you rent anything.

Trip Report

Raining in Eugene. Since there only 2 of us and it would be the first time on skies for both of us, we took the chance and went any way. It rained heavily all the way through the tunnel. We then talked about turning around at Gold Lake Sno-Park and returning home. We were lucky, 2 miles from the sno-park it started snowing. So after parking we decided to skip Gold Lake and ski to Betchel Shelter. At least we could get back to the car easier if the rain caught up with us. So began a very good day. It continued to snow for the rest of the day. We made it to the shelter, a shelter, I never seen. The snow conditions were good, no crust or ice. The ski out was fun, great glide. The best part we missed the twenty to thirty people we passed on the way out headed toward that same shelter.
