Trip Report

When it rains it pours someone said. Oh yes, literally. Our eighteen-volunteer strong group arrived at our Green Island work site at 9AM, just in time when drizzle changed to solid light rain. Then soon started to pour.
The so-called atmospheric river seemed to flow just across the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers, but it did not stop the mighty group from dealing with the abundance of tasks to be accomplished. We used hand shears, long loppers, machete, shovels, picks, pruning saws and chainsaws to cut and hoe blackberries and to prune and delimb trees. It was a job well done. Thank you, volunteers!
It was time to rush home to take a hot shower and dry our clothes.
Well, not so fast for some of us.
The leader and assistant leader experienced Green Island once again today as they responded to a “mayday call” from one of the volunteers who got lost for a while in the road maze. She took a wrong turn, ending up behind two locked gates. We returned to Green Island to find our volunteer patiently waiting for rescue.
Mission accomplished!
