Trip Report

The plan was to camp at the Soda Creek Campground, but we found that it had been closed. We resorted to "plan b", which was to camp at the nearby Devil's Lake Campground, across from the South Sister Trailhead. Nice, large campsites by the lake. We were the only people in the campground.

Intermittent light snow and rain commenced about 6:00 PM, continuing pretty much all night. The dawn revealed a coating of snow on the ground, causing us to reconsider that day's hike to Green Lakes and Broken Top. Due to the trail's elevation gain, it was decided to drive to Rosary Lakes Trail at a lower elevation with less snow . It was a nice walk in the woods.

While our original plans had to change, it was still a good time with a good group of folks.
