Description:

How about a coast hike that doesn't go to the beach? Treat yourself to a beautiful loop hike through coastal forests. And you will see the ocean because part of the loop is above the highway on the Oregon Coast Trail with several viewpoints. The main part of the hike is through lush forest of Sitka Spruce and Douglas Fir. It could be damp but that's why we have this vibrant, green forest.

Trip Report

We started about 10::30AM from the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center and hiked the 6.4 mile Gwynn Creek loop trail through old growth forest, ferns, lots of flowering trillium and various types of fungus along the way. The weather was overcast a a bit drizzly before we started, but improved through the day. We were constantly awed by the magnificent size of the trees.
Sandy Gill said she sent in her membership fee and applied for membership a week or so ago. She only had $1 member fee to pay instead of $5 even though her membership probably hasn't been processed yet.

The July Bulletin is online now.
