Description:
A few of us did this hike last year and found the Big Leaf and Vine Maple colors were remarkable. It’s a short drive to the trailhead, just out of Oakridge, and the trail is good, with the steep climb coming the last mile or so before Heckletooth. It is a mountain bike trail, and they maintain it, so we need to use caution on the hike.
No stream crossings. The summit is mostly open in Manzanita bushes; there are some open places along the trail, although most of it is in woods.
This is a Leave No Trace hike, and please, no deliberate feeding of wildlife.
