Hendricks Park Evening Hike

  • Start date: 08/29/2020

  • Start time: 12:00 AM

  • End date: 08/29/2020

  • End time: 11:59 PM

Description:

We'll explore all three sections of the park - Native Plant Garden, Rhododendron Garden and the Forest - to find out what's bloomin'. There are 50 some benches throughout the park, all with interesting histories - my current favortie being the Czech grampa and the cherry tree.

For me, this park has a quintessential PNW feel. Nurse logs are particular to this area and I think Hendrick's has the best. We'll find the one with over 20 baby rhodies growing on it.

DON'T FORGET A MASK - we will be physical distancing.

A picnic dinner in the shelter before the hike is a pleasant option.

Trip Report

Lovely evening hike. Since there isn't an abundance of plants in bloom at this time of year, the changing light was perhaps, the star of the show. As we walked back to our cars we were accompanied by a cheerful chorus of crickets.
