Description:

Meet at Masonic Cemetery entrance ( a gate with kiosks) at 25th and University. We will spend 10 minutes or so exploring the cemetery and seeing snowdrops in bloom. It will be a steady uphill walk for 30 minutes or to the Laurelwood Golf Course and Ribbon Trail up to 30th. On the way down we will stop at the Obsidian Lodge for a bathroom break. This will give you a chance to see to see the new art exhibit that includes sketches by Barbara Aten and Anne Bonine. From there it is on to Hendricks Park, Oak Knoll & other trails with an eventual loop back to Allann Brothers for coffee at 24th. I’m not sure about the mileage or elevation—it depends on the weather, our interests and time.

Trip Report

A plethora of snowdrop and crocus flowers greeted us at the Masonic Cemetery. On the Ribbon Trail above the Obsidian lodge near 30th Avenue, we were surprised to see a cleared parcel of land with a sign for a public hearing for a zone change. Before we headed for Hendricks Park, we stopped at the lodge to view the new art exhibit It was a beautiful day to enjoy a pleasant walk on quiet urban trails.
