Trip Report

Backpacking Olympic National Park is truly a treasure, walking among massive trees 7 - 9 ft in diameter.. some over 10 ft in diameter even 8 miles up the Hoh River trail! The awe of experiencing almost a thousand years of undisturbed growth. Imagining what it was like 150 years ago when most of the west coast was covered in these giants. Our adventures included negotiating numerous stream crossings and a very long floppy ladder down an avalanche chute, seeing bizillions of tiny new frogs just emerged from tadpolehood, discovering a nest of a dozen eggs at one of our campsites and hanging out at the humongous Blue Glacier coming off Mt Olympus.
