The historic Hope Abbey Mausoleum at the Masonic Cemetery is open to the public this Sunday. They will have tour guides available. Meet at the location 27th and University, Eugene

Our afternoon itinerary will be flexible. Probably we will wander around the wooded cemetery and look for the graves of notable Eugeneans including city founder Eugene Skinner, the first governor of Oregon John Whiteaker, and older recognizable family names like Chambers, Friendly, Condon, Luckey, Collier, McCornack, and Kerns.

Trip Report

We spent about an hour and a half wandering around. The cemetery is nicely set up with historical notes posted on about 50 grave sites. Currently, Hope Abbey is open the last Sunday of each month.
