Horsepasture Mountain

Description:

This is a great workout hike with abundant wildflowers and great views from the summit. We'll start this hike from road 1993 on what's called Saddle Mountain trail 3326 which switchbacks up 1575 feet in 2.2 miles to the standard Horsepasture trail. From there we'll climb another 700 feet to the summit. After the hike some of us may stop at Takodas Restaurant.

The departure time is 8:30am. If you show up later than this, we may not be there. Show up about 15 minutes early.

Trip Report

Thirteen Obsidian members made the 2300-foot ascent up to the summit of Horsepasture Mountain on a perfect summer day from the Saddle trailhead on road 1993. The trail had not been cleared this year and so there were numerous downed trees to climb over and some heavy brush to wade through, but the trail was passable, and the views of the Cascades from the top were spectacular.
