Description:

I'm assured that the snow is gone and the wildflowers are blooming on Iron Mt., so it's a good time for our annual hike up this popular lookout. We'll be taking the Sullivan recommended loop past Cone Peak and through the meadows. A stop at Takoda's Restaurant after the hike is a possibility.

Trip Report

Iron Mountain is always a favorite flower hike if it\'s a good flower year, and it appears to be. Our group hiked clockwise from Tombstone Pass up to the Iron Mountain lookout, then continued on to the Cone Peak saddle, where we had our lunch. From there we hiked the last three miles through the beautiful flower-draped Cone Peak meadows.
