Description:

Wild flowers may be a bit delayed this year due to heavy snow pack. I will get reports a few days early for snow pack and weather. If there is a heavy snow pack, or nasty weather, I may decide to reschedule for the following week. We will hike at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for water, snacks and photography.

Trip Report

The wildflowers varieties were simply awesome - among the best any of us had ever seen on Iron Mountain - with virtually perfect weather throughout the day. At the summit there were birds, butterflies and beautiful cirrus clouds floating in the afternoon sky. Everyone hiked mostly at their own pace with many stops for photography, snacks and just plain gawking at the colorful meadows and gigantic Hemlock trees. We had some interesting conversations with non-Obsidian hikers, including an Austrian tourist who rode his trail bike all the way to the summit.
