Much of this hike will be "off trail " following blue ski diamonds in the Waldo Lake area. You should expect some rocky
terrain and downed trees to climb over.
The trail begins at the Fuji Mtn. Trailhead. We then hike cross country to JoAnn and Lorin Lakes. From here we pick up the South Waldo Trail and hike toward the Fuji Mtn. shelter. Then another cross country hike through the Birthday Lakes area.
We will exit the way we started on the Fuji Mtn. trail.

Trip Report

Five veteran hikers and one newbie set out on a drizzly Saturday to hike some unknown, less frequently visited territory in the Waldo Lake area. We began on the Fuji Mountain trail then followed the blue ski diamonds through Jo Ann and Lorin Lakes. We connected with the South Waldo trail, hiked through Island Lakes, then rerouted back to the ski diamonds to the Fuji Shelter and Birthday Lakes area. Our exit was again on the Fuji Mountain trail completing a 10.3 mile loop. Someone figured we were hiking about three mph.

This is a new hike for those tiring of the same old trails.
