Trip Report

We traveled by way of Santiam Pass, stopping in the Sisters City Park, then by Lower Bridge to Cove Palisades State Park for lunch and inspection of the Deschutes and Crooked River gorges. On the second day we took life easy, swimming, hiking and sunning until about 3 o’clock when we drove to Warm Springs to the Indian Museum there. After a couple of hours there we returned to Kah-Nee-Ta for dinner. On the third day we got off at 8:00 and journeyed to Bend to the High Desert Museum, arriving just as they were opening and so were among the first ever to enter by their new entrance. We toured the otter, porcupine and owl outer gardens and noted the excellent displays inside the building. They are ever increasing and improving the exhibits. At 1 o’clock we started for Eugene by way of Willamette Pass. We stopped at the top of Salt Creek Falls to finish our excellent cookies, and then on to Eugene via Jasper and Springfield.
