Trip Report

Three hardy women drove over to the Cascade Lakes area for a 2 day trip (instead of the planned 3) because of the very rainy, cold forecast. After checking in at our cabin at Twin Lakes, we had a pleasant late afternoon kayak at Hosmer Lake. Ducks everywhere, and then in the last nook we paddled into, we saw 2 otters, one eating a fish dinner. The next day we visited Sparks Lake and got a few glimpses of fresh snow on Broken Top and South Sister. Due to the predicted bad weather, we had the lakes mostly to ourselves both days. After packing up at the resort, we decided to stop at Davis Lake on the way home. Only a little kayaking was done because the lake was very low, but we did enjoy the fall colors and views.
