  • End date: 07/07/2023

  • End time: 11:59 PM

Description:

We will carpool to the parking area at Koosah Falls. We will first hike east to above Sahalie Falls and then cross the river to head west on the other side. We will hike past Carmen Smith reservoir, through beautiful old growth and have lunch at Blue Pool. This hike is full of photo opportunities. The elevation changes are not bad but it is a long day with the miles.
There are parts of the trail that are narrow with a drop off (not a cliff). If you are unsteady then bring your poles.

Trip Report

Our small group got an early start knowing we had a long hike ahead. We decided to head west from Koosah Falls past Carmen Smith Reservoir down to Blue Pool first. We noticed how overrun the area around Blue Pool has become but we still paused for a snack and enjoyed its crystal clear beauty. We then backtracked, careful not to trip on the many exposed roots and rocks on the trail. We continued around the Koosah and Sahalie Falls loop and the gushing turquoise river kept us cool as the temperatures rose in the afternoon. We didn't encounter too many mountain bikers, but those we did see courteously shared the trail.
