Koosah Falls around Clear Lake

Description:

We will park at the trailhead for Koosah Falls and hike east past Sahalie Falls. After crossing the highway we will make the loop around Clear Lake and head back to Koosah Falls. The main elevation gain is the 1.5 miles to Clear Lake and then relatively flat around the lake. The pace will be moderate. The plan is to stop for lunch at Clear Lake Resort using their picnic tables. The resort store should be open for snacks.

Trip Report

It was 9:15AM when our big group hit a McKenzie River trail.
In ideal hiking weather, we saunter from Koosah Falls to Sahalie Falls and further north until we reached beautifully sparkling Clear Lake. On basaltic lava trail we continued counter clockwise until we reached Great Spring, a primary source of the McKenzie River. Our next destination was Clear Lake Resort and nearby picnic pavilion where we had lunch.
It was 85°F by the time we returned to the cars.
