Koosah Falls around Clear Lake

Description:

Participants will manage their own transportation. Obsidian protocols for social distancing will be observed on the hike. Refer to main website page for information.
This is a great hike to see both waterfalls, Kossah and Sahalie Falls and one of the clearest most pristine lakes in the cascades. Clear Lake is where the McKenzie River gets its start.
Please mark your transportation. If you want to drive with no one in your car then mark "have" and "0". If you might be comfortable taking a person or two then mark how many besides yourself you are willing to have ride with you. I don't want to park more than six cars at the small trailhead so would expand the max participants if we have the travel capacity.

Trip Report

We ended up with six cars and eight participants. We left Springfield and then connected up again in the parking lot of the Forest Service office above McKenzie Bridge. We parked at Koosah Falls and hiked past both waterfalls and around Clear Lake. For a Monday we still passed many people on the trail. We all had masks handy and most others on the trail put their mask on also. When we started hiking the temperature was 67 degrees. When we finished at 2:30 the temp was 91 degrees. Thank goodness we went counterclockwise around the lake so hit the sunny side in the morning. By the time the heat hit we were back in the shade by the river. No Mosquitoes. It was a perfect day.
