Description:

This is a close in trip to Eugene climbs steadily 2400 feet up to Larison Rock, which is at 3700 feet. The trail is in deep woods traversing an area that was burned by the Deception Complex fire, but not badly. We will climb to the rock, have lunch and then return the way we came. The rock formation is interesting and has views to the south.

Trip Report

We had a nice November day to do Larison Rock. The trail is in good shape. We did encounter 5 mountain bikers, so they are to be expected. We climbed steadily 1500' over 2 miles to the relatively flat ridge. After a short break, we went on to the top, where we had lunch on the rock in bright sunshine. We came down through a dense forest with a lot of fallen leaves on the trail, and we were done in just over 4 hours. Everybody enjoyed the hike and a quiet Sunday in the woods.
