Description:

This is a nice low elevation trail through the woods and the periphery of the Deception Complex burn to Larison Rock, which has nice views to the south. It is close in, so the drive is not long. The hike is short, but the climb is significant although spread out throughout the hike. It is, however, a MB trail, so it likely is to be in decent shape. We probably will be back to LCC by early afternoon (2-3).

Trip Report

When I put this hike on the schedule, I wondered whether it should be moderate because of the 8 mile distance. The committee chairs of summer and winter trips assured me it should be rated difficult. Yep. The climb is 1500' in 2 miles, consistent with upper Hardesty, upper Maiden Peak, and Henline. It isn't steep, but it just keeps going. Anyway, we had seven going out and had favorable conditions to hike up to the top. After a short lunch, we returned, after having paid the gravity bill. Nice day close in to town.
