Description:

This will be our first trail maintenance outing to the Three Sisters Wilderness this season. We will be hiking 8 miles to Linton Meadows via the Obsidian Trail and PC on that Friday. We will set up base camp in the Linton Meadows area before beginning our project. Over the rest of the weekend we will be placing small check dams to rehabilitate a user trail that wanders through a few of the lower meadows in the area towards Linton Falls. We will be joined by other volunteers and possibly wilderness rangers. We'll backpack out Sunday the way we came in.

All participants will need to a have a signed forest service volunteer agreement on file with the forest service ahead of time (A week or so ahead of time). Please contact the trip leader to get a copy.

Carpool location will be decided as we get closer to the trip.

Trip Report

Linton Meadows is a large area just to the southwest of the Middle Sister. We started at Frog Camp on Friday morning, took the Obsidian Trail to the PCT, and continued on south another two miles until we hit the cut off trail for Linton Meadows. We set up our base camp at a large clearing by the hiker foot bridge that crosses Linton Creek. I was joined with two volunteers from another group along with two wilderness rangers in the area. Saturday was spent placing 43 check dams along an old user trail that follows Linton Creek. Saturday evening we did a short hike to Husband and Eileen lakes and even saw a couple of mountain grouse. Sunday was spent hiking out with a couple of stops at Obsidian Falls and Sunshine Meadow.
