Description:

Time for spring cleaning. Both in the Lodge and around the grounds. We need to get things in great shape before some rentals, a memorial service, and our own continuing activities. We need a thorough cleaning inside: windows, floors, cobwebs. Outside we need to clean gutters and get downspouts cleared. The East side walkway is going to need a long term solution but for now we might just add some gravel to the gaps. If we are really ambitious, there is the historical YMCA bulletin Board to be hung.
On the grounds, mowing, weed-wacking, hand weeding, blackberry digging and cutting, brush trimming, leaf blowing, mulch moving and spreading, and moving firewood and chopping kindling.
Lunch afterward at The Pub at Laurelwood.

Trip Report

It's pretty impressive what can be accomplished by a group of dedicated Obsidians. Today's efforts went beyond the usual clean, sweep, and mow. In the Lodge hallway, Doug, John, and Vern mounted the historic Obsidian bulletin board that had hung at the YMCA for many years. Originally used as the place to signup for trips it will now be a place to display pictures and notices about our activities. We clean the gutters every year put this time Gwyneth and Mike unclogged the downspouts. A messy, time consuming job and required complete . The grounds crews were in constant motion with mowing, weed wacking and pruning dominating phase one. Then came the raking, blowing and debris moving. Some plants were moved, mulch was spread, and a woodpile relocated. There was always a little more that could be done and people found a place to be useful. What a bunch of volunteers!
