Trip Report

This hike was the 86th anniversary of the placing of a brass plaque on Macduff Mt to honor Nelson Macduff, a former forest service supervisor and Obsidian member. We used two pickups to get the six members up the steep and rocky road to the trailhead. The trail itself is a beautifully engineered trail up a steep ridge through a shaded forest floor covered with oxalis. All the hikers enjoyed the bountiful wildflowers at their peak and the great views of Sawtooth Ridge. The perfect weather allowed a clear view on the summit of the Oregon Cascades from Mt Hood to Diamond Peak.
