Description:

Departure location: Shell station near LCC (86623 FRANKLIN BLVD, 97405-9605, EUGENE)

We’ll park at the PCT trailhead, ski past the Rosary Lks then head directly towards Maiden Peak. All weather permitting, which could necessitate a change of route and/or destination even.

We will ski in protected safe non-avalanche areas for this entire trip, no need for avalanche equipment, but having a shovel never hurts.

Backpack with food & fluids for a long day if you like (at least a 2+ or equivalent Harold sandwich day). Clothes- no cotton, wool or similar base layer. Jackets; softshell a down & hardshell for possible cold, windy conditions.

Trip Report

It was a beautiful day, a few inches of nice new light snow. We broke trail right to Maiden Peak, took a couple food breaks, summit was cold windy but we made a winter summit which is always nice. Larry made it and didn’t have to bury him on the summit. The first 1,500 ft ski down from the summit was winter skiing bliss! A great day outside.
